Unknown Secret of Ali Abdaals Side Hustle course

Hey everyone, welcome to the video!

I'm not really a guy that wants to do a side hustle, but I like to focus on one thing and repeat it. Yes, I have an aspect of my life where I like to repeat things, but the reality is, I have failed in multiple businesses in the past. I've realized that in the game of capitalism, the key is staying in the game. It's not just about the destination but about the journey and getting better at it.

There are a lot of unknowns in this game, and you need to get better at dealing with these unknowns. It's like a poker game where you have to play with what you have and understand that there will always be unknowns in your life. This course is designed to help you understand what those unknowns are and how to navigate them in your creative process.

To give you a bit of my background, I started a small business at the age of 18 with my family capital. It was a bookstore that I eventually turned into a real estate business. However, I made the mistake of canceling the first business despite its profitability, because I wanted to focus on just one thing. The reality is, putting all your eggs in one basket is not the right strategy, especially in business where there are so many variables.

Ali talks about not leaving your main business because making money in a creative enterprise is not easy. You need to have some form of income before diving into something creative. This was one of my major takeaways from Jordan Peterson as well. Creative people need to eliminate as many unknowns as possible before starting any creative venture. It took me 20 years to learn this; it might take Ali five years or you 30 years. It all depends on your cognition and having a good mentor.

In this case, my mentor is Ali, who is younger than me. This feels refreshing as I usually learn from people older than me. I suggest anyone my age or older to take his course. I met Ali through a chance encounter, and we both live in Cambridge, which adds a personal connection for me.

From Ali's course, I learned the importance of not just applying for jobs but creating a system that attracts opportunities to me. As a software contractor, I used to apply for multiple roles on my own, but now I use videos to get feedback and invert the process. Contracts now come to me, which is very refreshing.

I’m using my contracting income to support this creative side hustle. It's important to have a team, as doing everything on your own can be limiting. Ali also emphasizes the importance of having fun during this process. Every day at 7 AM, I wake up and have one hour to create videos before my kid wakes up. It's a lot of fun and a great way to break the monotony of just working as a contractor.

Remember, not everyone has the same circumstances. Ali has more flexibility as a bachelor, whereas I have responsibilities as a father and an immigrant. Despite these challenges, I enjoy working on multiple projects and creating something meaningful.

The key takeaway is to convert my LinkedIn strategy from push marketing to pull marketing. This way, I can attract opportunities instead of constantly seeking them out. This process is supported by my contracting income, allowing me to focus on creative endeavors without financial stress.

One of Ali's points is quantity over quality. I have mixed feelings about this, as my team uploaded over 4,000 videos last year, with only a small percentage being released. This process taught me the importance of learning and improving continuously.

I also learned to stay antifragile and be stoic. Facing my fears, such as learning Adobe Creative Cloud, has been a significant part of my journey. I used to avoid these tools, but now I'm diving into Photoshop, Adobe Audition, and Adobe Premiere to improve my skills.

Ali's second brain idea aligns with my extensive note-taking and documentation habits. I started using Twitter as a second brain to collect feedback and identify valuable insights. This approach helps me refine my creative process and work with my team to produce polished content.

Holding yourself accountable is crucial. I invest in my team and equipment to ensure progress. We have a payment structure that incentivizes performance and growth. This approach fosters accountability and helps the team grow with the channel.

Finally, the impact is essential. My goal is to compound my efforts and create something meaningful, whether in AI, space, or another area of interest. Life is more fulfilling when you're passionate about what you do.

Thank you for watching the video. These are my takeaways from Ali's side hustle course. If you have any questions or comments, please leave them below. Have a great day!
